Fund Objectives and Investment Policy

The aim of the fund is to grow the value of your original investment over the medium term.

The fund will mainly invest in a range of zero dividend preference shares and other investments which are considered lower risk and which may include structured investments, synthetic zeros and fixed income assets.

  • Fixed income assets: investments that pay out a set level of income.
  • Structured Investments: a group of financial instruments which frequently combine the potential upside of market performance with limited downside. They may also provide a fixed return in exchange for accepting a degree of risk or may generate gains from market falls. They can also be used within a fund to help manage the impact of large stock market fluctuations.
  • Synthetic Zeros: A form of structured investment which has a predefined return profile and a set maturity date whilst being exposed to a degree of credit and equity market risk. Synthetic zeros are usually linked to major indices but typically have less risk than investing directly in the index itself.
  • Zero Dividend Preference Shares: Shares that do not receive an income but instead pay out a return at the end of the investment’s fixed life.

The fund is actively managed which means that the Fund Manager will choose the investments, currencies and markets held in the fund but always within the boundaries outlined in the fund’s objective and policy.

The full investment objective and policy, which outline all the eligible investments, are available in the fund’s prospectus.

You can buy, sell and switch shares in the fund on any UK business day. We will need to receive your instruction before 12 noon to buy shares at that day’s price.

Income arising from the fund will be reinvested and reflected in the share price.

Income

Fund Objectives and Investment Policy

The aim of the fund is primarily to provide income with some capital growth so that total returns are above LIBOR (a measure for institutional cash returns) over rolling three year periods.

The fund will aim to reduce losses to less than 50% of any losses experienced by global stock markets measured by the FT World index.

Returns above LIBOR over a rolling three year basis are not guaranteed and capital is at risk in seeking to achieve the aims.

The maximum underlying exposure to shares is 60% and the minimum is 20%.

The fund is actively managed which means that the Manager will choose the investments, currencies and markets held in the fund but always within the boundaries outlined in the fund’s objective and policy.

The full investment objective and policy, which outline all the eligible investments, are available in the fund’s prospectus.

The Sub-Fund will be actively managed on a low risk basis and assets may be allocated to any geographical sector through gaining exposure to a range of asset classes principally by holding transferable securities. The Sub-Fund may invest directly in cash, shares, fixed interest securities including government bonds and corporate bonds, certain other transferable securities including real estate investment trusts (REITs), collective investment schemes and structured products which may embed a derivative.

As a low risk strategy, a diversified portfolio of assets will be used to reduce the downside risk of global equity markets with the maximum exposure to shares being 60% and the minimum being 20% with the remainder of the Sub-Fund being invested in cash or fixed interest investments.

Derivatives and forward transactions may be used for hedging purposes only. The prices of these instruments can change very quickly and are based on the movement of another asset. Hedging means that they can only be used to reduce the effect of an existing exposure such as currency, in order to reduce overall risk.

Fund Objectives and Investment Policy

To provide long term growth principally through capital growth as well as income from a portfolio of investments.

The investment policy of the Fund is to invest into a portfolio of equities selected from the global market place.    The portfolio may have a high degree of concentration through holding a limited number of markets or equities which means that the movement of one market or individual share price could have a material impact on the entire Fund.  The Fund may also invest in collective investment schemes, fixed interest securities, money market instruments, structured products and other derivative instruments, deposits, warrants, cash and near cash.  Investments may be made indirectly in immovable property typically through units in collective investment schemes and/or shares in property companies.  The Fund may also invest in unregulated collective investment schemes such as hedge funds (where investment in such funds would be consistent with the investment objective and policy of the Fund).
